StarSkate Program Overview

Tentative Schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays

StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance,  skills, free skate and artistic skating. This program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Assessments through a nationally standardized assessment system. Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in StarSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating.

Skaters are required to skate at minimum 2 sessions a week. This program does not include coaching fees, those will be billed directly to the skater/parent. Skaters are required to hire a coach. As soon as you know you would like to register for skating in the upcoming season is a good time to contact coaches. Coaches information is listed under the "About Us" tab under "Our Coaches".

How Does StarSkate Work?

The StarSkate program consists of figure skating skills in four areas:

  • Skating Skills
  • Ice Dance
  • Free Skate
  • Artistic

Lessons

StarSkate athletes are taught in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive manner. These skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.

Skaters are required to hire a coach to skate in the StarSkate Program. Our coaches contact information can be found on the "Our Coaches" Tab. Parents should contact coaches as soon as they know they are registering a skater in the upcoming season.

Competitions

STARSkate participants love to compete! Our feedback indicates that even though a skater may choose not to participate in the Skate Canada CompetitiveSkate Program, they still want the opportunity to test their skill in a competition situation. Skate Canada offers several opportunities to do this. Information about upcoming competitions will be sent to parents from their coaches. Parents will then coordinate with their coach if they will attend certain competitions.
